about

According to Nick Leet..

This song was originally written and recorded for "Moonlight Girls" but didn't make the cut. It was written around the same time as "Cash Machine" and has a similar country gallop. The original recording was acoustic with a weird effect at the end. Mark thought the ending sounded too much like dolphins humping so we ditched it. We brought it back with a rocked up arrangement.

It was about a breakup I went through in 2003. I think it has some of best lyrics for a song that was on the scrap heap for 17 years.

lyrics

Dakota, you lost your mind
don't even care enough to call
I told ya
You've crossed the line
don't even care enough to call
don't even care enough at all
to call

Time flies now that it's over
and your postcards still keep coming
and they're tearing me apart
Wish you would go away
Wish you had never gone away
Wish that you were here today

Thanks for the apologies
They don't sit very well with me
They don't dry these crying eyes
You go your way and I'll go mine
Dinner for two has become drive thru
and I lost my sense of time
