about

According to Nick Leet...

I wrote this song a few years before the band got back together. I had been sitting on it a bit because the lyrics weren't quite ready. I finally hit on the final lyrics after attending yet another funeral that year. It was an awful time for my friends.

The "everything will work out fine" scream in the background was used from the original demo. I was in a bad place at the time and unloaded everything I had into that scream. I felt like it should stay in when the song was ultimately revamped.

lyrics

Maybe we were born to lose
Maybe this time we'll choose to wait it out
Maybe we'll find the right words to say
to get us through the day or maybe not

Life can get so long if we get this wrong, wouldn't it?

Weddings, kids and funerals on and on rinse and repeat
drives me to distraction with the things they say every now and again

Life can get so long if we get this wrong, wouldn't it?
Life can get so long if we get this wrong, wouldn't it?

Wake up feeling far from me
It takes everything I got to get on my feet
Everything will work out fine
That is the line I must repeat

Life can get so long if we get this wrong, wouldn't it?
Life can get so long if we get this wrong, wouldn't it?
