about

According to Nick Leet...

I love this song. I had written it a year or two before High on Stress got back together. There is an earlier demo out there somewhere. I was trying to write a Fig Dish meets Tom Petty sort of a song. I failed and somehow came up with my own thing. The second verse is my favorite. We also threw in a Beatles ending.

lyrics

True tales and no expectations
that's how it comes to pass
progress is a busted line
some years are a pain in the ass

Hopeful youth with your busted heart
Lead you back to where you start
time slips as the layers reveal
blurred lines with your hands on the wheel

It's a detour you'll find that you're lost
better make up your mind

Is this a place where you can still go
or is a place that you've always known
feels like I'm slipping slowly
rusty strings and feeling lonely
