about

According to Nick Leet..

Ben "Country" Baker started playing the guitar part at one of our rehearsals at the Blu Dot Warehouse in Northeast MPLS. I instantly loved it and yelled for him to keep going. The song pretty much wrote itself that night including the opening line "Rock n' Roll can kiss my ass".

My dad and I took a trip to NYC during the writing of the record. We stayed in Queens and ate at the hotel restaurant. The host kept putting us at Table 8. I figured it was a sign.

lyrics

Rock n' roll can kiss my ass
it never saved anyone
Driving under the overpass
you never helped anyone
This year has been so great
I'm walking in the shadows of our first date
this year has been so cursed
I've been walking in the shadows of a near divorce
you can't let go

Now that you're grown
you can't leave it alone
what you want is now all gone
and it's here where you belong

Old friends can kiss my ass
they never done anything
and the years go by so fast
and I wouldn't even change a thing
I'm just being honest with you
why can't you honest with yourself too
I'm glad I didn't change my mind
I lost my friends to the neon signs
they couldn't let go

You say you got what you wanted
now you can't write it off your mind
most of this is what you wanted
trying to find something you'll never find

Rock n' roll can kiss my ass
it never saved anyone
