about

According to Nick Leet...

I have very fond memories of bringing this song into rehearsal at the Blu Dot warehouse in Northeast MPLS where we rehearsed for a time. Ben "Country" Baker moved to Shanghai, China during the making of the record. He wrote the lead guitar part but didn't play on the recording. We were going for a Faces vibe. "Part Time" Pete's playing is magic on this track. We prefer to leave it off the set list if he isn't around.

lyrics

You've been running
since the day you left me
It was a long time coming
but it's the way it's meant to be
I don't want to see you
if you don't mind
I'll call someone who cares
if they can spare me some time
I need time

Hey you, you've got a lot going on
You're half drunk and dreaming of someone
and you know the months can be so long
so long
you've got me wrong

You're talking at me
with a glass in your hand
you got an alcohol smile
and an artificial tan
you said you'd like to see me
because you haven't since the end
back when I told you
I said we'd never be friends
you're gone

You know you put it all on me
you get so drunk you cannot speak

I don't need your religion
cuz I got my own
it's called letting everyone
have their own
we keep moving along
and I used to get so sad
but now I'm just frustrated
cuz things still go bad
so bad
